With over 14 years experience in elite professional sport, Duncan French, PhD is recognised as a leading practitioner in the field of strength and conditioning. Duncan is the Technical Lead for Strength & Conditioning at the English Institute of Sport in the North West Region. Since 2004, he has acted as the National Lead for Strength & Conditioning to both Great Britain Taekwondo and Great Britain Basketball’s Olympic programmes, and he has coached Olympic, World Championship, and Commonwealth Games medalist from a variety of sporting disciplines.
From 2009-2012 Duncan was the Head of Strength and Conditioning at Newcastle United Football Club. Duncan gained his PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Connecticut, USA and has authored/co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts. A board member since 2008, Duncan was the chairman of the United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association from 2011-2013. Previosuly Duncan is both the Director of Performance Sciences and Director of Strength & Conditioning – Olympic Sports at the University of Notre Dame. He also holds the position of Vice President of Performance at UFC Performance Institute.
